Mentone Ukes 7th Anniversary – Steampunk Christmas in August

We are celebrating the 7th anniversary of the Mentone Ukes on August 22 at 1:00pm but get there early because we will be displaying pictures throughout the years of the group on the library screen. Who would have thought in the tiny but very artistically minded town of Mentone, Alabama that a community ukulele group could have lasted this long? It’s definitely something to celebrate.

It’s also become a tradition with the Ukes to have a Christmas in August theme to play songs to use in the Christmas events we play at in December. And since we also need to practice sea shanties for the upcoming Steamers and Dreamers festival put on by Steampunk Alabama in October, we will be combining the two. I can say with total certainty that no where else in the world is there a Steampunk Christmas in August event.

Please wear any kind of Christmas themed items you choose and if you have any steampunk gear wear that as well. Bring any bells or chimes you have to add some Christmas atmosphere to the music. Also there is a good chance that Byron from Steampunk Alabama will join us. This is going to be a blast like no one inside or outside of Alabama has ever seen.
