DESCRIPTION:We will provide Christmas music for the December meeting of the DeKalb County (AL) Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. We will gather at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church to get set up at 5:00pm. We will play either in the meeting hall or the church sanctuary\, depending on how many ukulele carolers we have. That decision may not be made until the day of our performance.\nPlease arrive at 5:00 pm so we can get set up to start our program promptly at 5:30 pm. We will plan for a 25 minute program.\nThe DAR will have their business meeting immediately after our program and their holiday pot luck supper will be after the business meeting. We are invited to stay for the dinner\, but would need to stay for the business meeting. I will get numbers for eating dinner as the date gets closer.\nMark the date on your calendar now. This is a Thursday evening so I hope we will be able to have a nice-sized group.

The library will have a book sale and since Mentone Ukes is the house band of Moon Lake Library\, we will provide entertainment on Saturday August 9 at the library.\nWe will gather around 10:30 and begin playing around 10:45. During breaks\, individuals and/or small groups are invited to perform songs you’d like to share.\nThe librarian has generously offered to provide something for lunch for us!\nWe will play through the afternoon\, until we get tired\, run out of songs\, or it gets to be around 2 or 2:30\, whichever comes first.\nThis is a fun event and I hope you can join us for as much of the day as you can!

SUMMARY:Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head
DESCRIPTION:Our session on Saturday will feature a mix of familiar songs along with some we haven’t played for a while\, and our own Hank A will introduce a new song to the group: Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head!\n“…But there’s one thing I know\, the blues they send to meet me won’t defeat me\, it won’t be long til happiness steps up to greet me!” This fun and uplifting song was written by Burt Baccarat and Hal David for the 1969 film “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” In the film the song starts out with one instrument—the ukulele—while Paul Newman is riding a bicycle with Katherine Ross sitting on the handlebars. The song won an Oscar for Best Original Score and the single reached #1 on the Billboard charts. Although simple and catchy lyrics\, this is a challenging song with fairly rapid chord changes\, some truly beautiful chord progressions and a total of ten chords (only one new chord) in the song. But no worries. As we always do\, we will go over the song\, review the chords\, and play it through a couple of times.
